The device serves for the positioning and clamping of workpiece carriers. It has a positioning part, by means of which the workpiece carrier can be positioned. Moreover, the positioning part is provided with a centring surface lying on the outer surface of an imaginary cylinder, the axis of which is inclined at an acute angle to the horizontal and lies transversely to the direction of transport of the workpiece carrier. The centring surface at the same time also forms the clamping surface to which a counter-clamping surface inclined at an angle to the horizontal is assigned on the workpiece carrier. By means of the device, the workpiece carrier can be simultaneously positioned and tensioned with only a single device.
