A fin is provided, wherein Cu-Zn diffused alloy layer with a Zn content of not less than 1 wt % is formed on at least a portion of the surface of Cu-based substrate for fin. For the formation of such Cu-Zn diffused alloy layer, Zn is allowed to diffuse thermally after covered the surface of Cu-based substrate with Zn or Zn alloy, and rolling processing is carried out after the thermal diffusion to finish to a desired size.
