PURPOSE:To obtain an easy to handle acceleration detector with a simple construction, by putting a magnetic fluid between gases sealed at both ends of a U-shaped hermetically sealed enclosure while a coil of a differential transformer is arranged outside the interface between the magnetic fluid and the gases respectively. CONSTITUTION:A U-shaped hermetically sealed enclosure 1 is made of non-metal material and has gas chambers 2 and 2' to be sealed with a gas at both ends thereof and a magnetic fluid chamber 3 to hold a magnetic fluid at an intermediate section. The gas chambers 2 and 2' are connected to the magnetic fluid chamber 3 with pipes 4 and 4'. Primary coils 5 and 5' and secondary coils 6 and 6' of a differential transformer are fixed on the outside of the pipes 4 and 4'. The coils 5 and 5' connected in series are connected to a power source and the coils 6 and 6' are connected in series so as to obtain a difference between induced electromotive forces thereof. Now when an detector is being accelerated from right to left in the drawing, the magnetic fluid receives a force opposite to the ongoing direction thereof and thus, the interface in the pipe 4 lowers while that in the pipe 4' rises. As a result, a induced electromotive force of the coil 6 decreases while that of the coil 6' increases and the difference between both the electromotive forces shows the level of acceleration. |
