PURPOSE:To produce electrolytic manganese dioxide having desired characteristics of a dry cell by suspending a specified amount of manganese oxide of a specified average particle size in an electrolytic soln. and carrying out electrolysis at a specified anode current density. CONSTITUTION:Manganese oxide of <=50mum average particle size is suspended in an electrolytic soln. by 0.001-0.4g/l and electrolysis is carried out at such a high anode current density as 1.0-4.5A/dm<2>. Thus, electrolytic manganese dioxide having desired characteristics of a dry cell can be efficiently obtd.
