<p>An intermittent drive mechanism includes a pair of non-circular dirve and driven gears (13, 14) for translating a constant velocity rotary motion of an input shaft (12) into a non-uniform velocity rotary motion of an intermediate shaft (15), the latter-mentioned rotary motion having a sinusoidal angular speed pattern, and a harmonie speed reducer (17) drivingly connecting the intermediate shaft (15) to an output shaft (16) which is connected to a flexible spline of the speed reducer (17). A rigid circular spline of the speed reducer (17) is angularly reciprocated under the control of an eccentric cam (32) on the input shaft (12) in such a manner that the motion of the sinusoidal angular speed pattern is transmitted from the intermediate shaft (15) to the output shaft (16) in a certain decelerated condition only while the intermediate shaft (15) turns through a half of each turn. The motion transmission takes plane gently without causing undesired shock at the beginning and the end of the motion.</p> |
