EGR DIAGNOSTIC METHOD AND APPARATUS

A method and apparatus is described for diagnosing the operation of an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) apparatus (20-32) of an internal combustion engine (10) having a speed density fuel delivery device (12) and having a closed loop adjustment of fuel. The operation of the EGR apparatus is determined by disabling the EGR apparatus and observing the magnitude of change of the integral term of the closed loop adjustment.
