PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer printing mechanism small-sized for its capacity wherein heat is well discharged from a thermal line head and the wiring processing thereof is easy, by setting a platen roller to a movable side and allowing the same to take two positions, that is, a printing position and a spaced-apart position. CONSTITUTION:A thermal line head 1 is provided so as to be fixed to a chasis 2. A platen roller moving mechanism 19 capable of allowing a platen roller 10 to take two positions, that is, the position contacting with the thermal line head 1 under pressure shown by a solid line and a position making an ink sheet 3 detachable between the thermal line head 1 and the platen roller 10 shown by a broken line is provided. Further, the feed route P of image receiving paper is set to a long oval feed route along the platen belt 11 trained over a feed roller 8 and the platen roller 10. By this constitution, a thermal transfer printing mechanism small-sized as compared with a drum type wherein heat is well discharged from the thermal line head 1 and the wiring processing thereon is easy and a printing time is short is obtained. |
