PURPOSE:To facilitate further to watch a display picture by detecting the viewing position of a viewer and correcting the direction of the display picture based upon a remote control signal sent from a remote commander. CONSTITUTION:A remote control signal RM sent from a remote commander 13 is received by plural infrared ray receiving elements 17R and 17L provided at a television receiver main body 1 and based on the level difference and the sum of the level of receiving outputs RMR and RML, a viewing position is detected by a viewing position detecting part 18. A system controller 16 reads image correcting data COR corresponding to viewing position data POS from an image correcting data memory 23, generates an image correcting signal OCR, and corrects a horizontal deflecting signal sent from a deflecting circuit 10 so that the displaying picture of a CRT 2 can be watched as the approximately same image as the image watched from the front even when the displaying picture of the CRT 2 is watched slantingly from a right or left side position. |
