PURPOSE:To obtain a spring having superior elasticity and hardly causing plastic deformation even when large displacement or stress exceeding the elastic limit value is produced, by using an alloy having a specified composition consisting of Mn, Ni, Cr and Cu. CONSTITUTION:An alloy consisting of 10-<15wt% Mn, 10-<15wt% Ni, >1-5wt% Cr and the balance Cu with accompanying impurities is subjected to soln. heat treatment at about 700-1,000 deg.C, cold worked at >=about 10% rate, formed into the shape of a spring and aged at about 350-500 deg.C to obtain a spring suitable for use as a magnetic head pressing spring or the like. Though the spring does not contain Be harmful to the human body, the elasticity is comparable to or higher than that of Be-Cu and the spring causes little permanent deflection due to plastic deformation even when large displacement or stress exceeding the elastic limit value is produced. |
