PURPOSE:To decrease the content of B in a molten iron to <=2ppm in the stage of treating the molten pig iron by an oxygen source and a CaO source by limiting the content of SiO2 of the refractories in the vessel used thereby maintaining the low basicity of the slag. CONSTITUTION:A pig iron 3 in a molten state is received in a molten iron pan 1 formed of refractories contg. 20-100% SiO2, and an oxygen source of gas or solid, for example, O2 is supplied thereto and the molten iron is stirred by blowing gas or a mechanical method, for example, by rotating an impeller 2 in a direction A. Then the basicity of slag as low as >=1.0 CaO/SiO2 is assured and the content of B in the molten iron 3 is decreased by oxidation to <=2ppm. |
