The superconducting ribbon or strand consists of at least two layers surrounding a core. The ribbon or strand consists of two superconducting materials, one of which is a Chevrel phase possibly doped and forming one of the layers or the core, while the second superconductor is not a Chevrel phase and forms either another layer, possibly with voids, or the core. The invention also relates to the preparation of the ribbon or strand and to a filamentary strand formed by combining such hybrid strands.
