PURPOSE:To facilitate adjustment of optical axes for connection by projecting ultraviolet rays into an optical waveguide to cure ultraviolet curing adhesive filled between end faces and then curing other non-cured part by ultraviolet ray radiation from the external. CONSTITUTION:The leading part of an optical fiber 5 is inserted into a groove 4 engraved on a base 3 on which an optical waveguide 2 is formed and light is projected fro the optical waveguide 2 or core 6 of the optical fiber 5 to adjust the optical fiber 5 so that the axis of the waveguide 2 coincides with that of the core 6. When an opposite gap between the end face of the groove 4 and the leading end face of the optical fiber 5 is filled with the ultraviolet curing adhesive 7 and ultraviolet rays 11 is radiated from the core 6 or the waveguide 2 to the adhesive 7, a part of the adhesive 7 is cured then, ultraviolet rays 8 are projected from the external to the adhesive 7, so that the other uncured part which is not projected by the ultraviolet rays 11 is cured. |
