1483682 Modified polyolefins EXXON RESEARCH & ENG CO 14 March 1975 [27 March 1974] 41931/76 Divided out of 1483681 Heading C3P [Also in Division C5] Polymeric mono- or bis-oxazolines are obtained by reacting together, in the presence of a metal salt, (1) a hydrocarbyl substituted C 4-10 dicarboxylic acid or anhydride or ester, the hydrocarbyl group being substantially saturated and having at least 50 carbon atoms, and (2) a C 4-8 aminoalkanol of formula where X is C 1-3 alkyl or hydroxyalkyl, at least one X being a group of formula (CH 2 ) n OH in which n is 1-3. In examples, various different polyisobutenyl succinic anhydrides, prepared from chlorinated polyisobutylene and maleic anhydride, are reacted with 2-amino-2-hydroxymethyl - 1,3 - propane diol or 2 - amino - 2- methyl-1,3-propane diol in the presence of zinc acetate. Use.-Additives for fuels, lubricants and refinery streams. |
