PURPOSE:To obtain a connecting rod at a low cost and with high precision by providing a pair of rings having a certain axial distance between them and forming peripheral layers and a rod part connecting together both peripheral layers, while both of them being made of resin-immersed continuous fibers wound between both rings. CONSTITUTION:The connecting rod in the caption comprises an FRP ring 2 to form a piston pinhole 1, an FRP ring 4 to form a crank shaft hole 3, peripheral layers 5 each formed around each of the rings 2, 4, and a rod part 6 connecting both peripheral layers 5 to each other. The peripheral layers 5 and the rod 6 are formed of resin-immersed continuous fibers 7. The peripheral layers 5 and the rod part 6 are hardened after the fibers 7 are wound, and an FRP connecting rod integral with the rings 2, 4 is obtained. Metallic material such as aluminum alloy may be used of rings 2, 4 to make connecting rod light and manufacture it at a low cost. Fabric or woven material may be used as resin-immersed continuous fibers in cases of use for loads of compression and tension only. |
