The compass has two parallel discs screwed onto a central interemdiate ring via respective peripheral rings. The carrier for the magnetic needle is supported at the centre of one disc, with both discs pref. made of a transparent material. Each disc may comprise a membrane and one or both discs may be made of an organic material. The intermediate ring has a seal on either side cooperating with the peripheral fixing ring for each disc to provide a fluid-tight seal. The interior space defined between the facing surfaces of the discs and the intermediate ring is filled with a fluid in which the compass needle or compass disc rotates. ADVANTAGE - Thinner outer dimensions. Many model variants possible without high working tool costs.
