PURPOSE:To form fine colored polymer grains usable as a tone as they are without pulverizing them by applying ultrasonic waves to a liquid mixture containing a monomer, a colorant, and water, and then subjecting the mixture to suspension polymerization. CONSTITUTION:The liquid mixture containing the additionally polymerizable monomer, such as styrene, the colorant, such as a pigment or dye, water, and when needed, a suspension stabilizer, such as polyvinyl butyral is subjected to ultrasonic waves in an intensity of 0.05-50W/l/hr, continuously or intermit tently, in the feed course to a reactor or in the reactor by using an ultrasonic homogenizer having a frequency of 10-50kHz. If the intensity is smaller than said range, the diameters of the dispersed particles become too large, and on the contrary, if over the range, they become too small, thus permitting the fine particles requiring no pulverizing to be obtained. |
