PURPOSE:To prevent decrease in catalytic activity of a hydrophilic part by arranging a reaction layer having a sheet comprising a hydrophobic part and a hydrophilic part in which catalyst is supported and ion exchange resin is penetrated, and a film formed on one side of the sheet. CONSTITUTION:A reaction layer 1 is formed in such a way that, for example, a sheet 1a measuring 0.1mm in thickness, 100mm in width, and 100mm in length is formed by mixing hydrophilic carbon black having a mean particle size of 390Angstrom , hydrophobic carbon black having a mean particle size of 420Angstrom , and polytetrafluoroethylene powder having a mean particle size of 0.3mum in a ratio of 4:3:3, and 0.056g of platinum catalyst is supported in the hydrophilic carbon black, and ion exchange resin penetrates into only the hydrophilic part 4 of the sheet 1a, and an ion exchange film 1b is formed on the surface of the sheet 1a. The platinum catalyst is fixed by the ion exchange resin. When it is used as an electrode of secondary battery or liquid type fuel cell, flow out of the catalyst and coagulation of the catalyst by temperature increase are eliminated, and decrease in catalytic activity in the hydrophilic part can be prevented. |
