PURPOSE:To obtain a resin compsn. which is excellent in the slow release of an antibacterial agent and can be easily prepd., by adding a glycerol soln. of chlorhexidine and an org. or inorg. powder having a specified average particle size and a specified specific surface area to a synthetic resin. CONSTITUTION:A glycol soln. of chlorhexidine and an org. or inorg. powder having an average particle size of not larger than 100mu and a specified surface area of not smaller than 0.6m<2>/g are added to a synthetic resin. When a porous powder having pores previously impregnated with the glycerol soln. is added to a synthetic resin, the resin can slowly release chlorhexidine over a longer period of time. Examples of the powder are commercially available calcium carbonate, barium sulfate, porous silica, porous polystyrene, etc. The resin compsn. is suitable for use in medical instruments such as a urethral catheter. |
