The invention relates to a device for monitoring bases subject to fire or explostion risks by means of a light-sensitive element which is connected by a light guide to the space to be monitored. At the same time, a fibre bundle of this light guide serves to transmit the light coming from a master radiator (emitter, source) arranged outside the space to be monitored. This light is retroreflected by a mirror into the light guide and thus reaches the light-sensitive element. <IMAGE>
