<p>A process and device are used to cut up a tree trunk (10) into wood products without producing shavings. The tree trunk (10) is axially guided against at least one knife (50) which separates a wood product, preferably a sideboard (51), laterally from the tree trunk (10). A radially adjustable force acts upon the surface of the tree trunk (10). In order to avoid to the largest possible extent damages to the separated sideboard, the force exerted by the press and/or its location on the tree trunk (10) can be adjusted before the knife (50), seen in the direction of travel of the tree trunk (10), independently of the force exerted by the knife (50).</p> |
