Method of making good paint damage or inlaying outlines of different colours, e.g. lettering, smaller surfaces, into intact paint surfaces

In order to make good narrow, elongate and spot-shaped (up to 1.1 cm), paint damage, the damage point is masked with two self-adhesive films and is then cut away through the two films to the depth of the original primer. After the cut-away portion has been filled with a plurality of layers of paint, the upper film is pulled away and the paint projecting above the lower film is cut off. When this is done, the cutting instrument slides on the lower film or, in the case of spot-shaped defects, on the paint itself. Any film still present in the case of elongate damage is then removed and the paint surface is polished flat and smooth. A variation of the method permits the carrying-out of inlay work of different colours with a flat surface and perfect quality in intact paint surfaces.
