PURPOSE:To provide the title compsn. which has excellent flame retardance and electrical characteristics, is suitable for use in covering wires, cables, etc. and does not contain any halogen, by blending a specified mixture with an inorg. filler, a carbonization accelerator and a vulcanizing agent. CONSTITUTION:Clay (a) is blended with at least one member (b) selected from the group consisting of talc, alumina, zinc borate, silica, Al(OH)3, Mg(OH)2, Sb2O3 and CaCO3 in a weight ratio of (a) to (b) of 1-4 to obtain an inorg. filler (B). 100pts. (by weight; the same applies herebelow) mixture (A) of an ethylene/propylene copolymer (c) with a rubbery plastic contg. no halogen (e.g., butyl rubber) is blended with 200-400pts. component B, 5-35pts. carbonization accelerator (C) contg. no halogen selected from the group consisting of phosphoric ester compds. (e.g., tricresyl phosphate), phosphate frit and ammonium tertiary phosphate and 0.1-10pts. vulcanizing agent (D) (e.g., tetramethylthiuram disulfide). |
