PURPOSE:To uniformly deposit MnO2 on the whole surface of the anode when electrolytic MnO2 is produced by a slurry process, by stepwise or slowly increasing current density from the beginning of electrolysis until a prescribed current density is attained. CONSTITUTION:MnO2 crushed to <=30mum particle size is suspended by 1g/l in an Mn(SO4)2 soln. having 1mol/l concn. as an electrolytic soln., and electrolysis is carried out with a graphite plate as the cathode and a Ti plate as the anode. At this time, current density is stepwise increased from the beginning of electrolysis by 0.2A/dm<2> every 5min so that a prescribed current density of 1.6A/dm<2> is attained after the lapse of 40min. Current density may be slowly increased from the beginning of electrolysis so that the prescribed current density is finally attained. A layer of a uniform thickness can be formed by electrolytic MnO2 deposited on the anode over the whole surface of the anode. |
