The analysis aid is intended to facilitate comparison of dental X-ray films as prescribed in the constancy test of DIN 6868/5 and simultaneously to show the consequences resulting from the comparison. Specifically, the analysis aid comprises a region in which the middle level of the test film is compared, cutting out with a mask, with the grey levels of the reference film. For this purpose, the reference film is firmly attached to a slide which simultaneously serves as a text carrier. The text carrier bears various instructions which appear in openings of the covering depending on the position of the slide. The advantage of the arrangement resides in 1. the high degree of comparability of the grey levels of the two films due to the masking, 2. the link between the state found by comparison of the grey levels and the textual description of this state and the compilation of the consequences appropriate for this state (according to the Appendix of DIN 6868/5). <IMAGE>
