My invention relates to a universal, programmable, computing automaton, in which some of the data lines of the program memory are led via a clocked intermediate memory to the address spins of the said program memory. After running through a minimal switching logic and in accordance with the machine program, the state of the other data lines of the program memory bring influence to bear on the state and the content of a read-write memory, on the state of an input line, an output line and one of the abovementioned data lines which are led via the intermediate memory to the address spins of the said program memory, and also any further components, with the result that the automaton can - in a way similar to a Turing machine - execute all the commands which a microprocessor can also execute. The advantages of the automaton are its simple design, the fast execution of certain commands and its simple programming (no need for learning a machine language). <IMAGE>
