The foot switch (23) has, on a spring bearing (25), a cup spring (26), into the central orifice of which an actuating pin (27) can be inserted. The latter cooperates with a proximity switch (28) when it is moved downwards by foot pressure. The spring bearing (25), cup spring (26) and, if appropriate, actuating pin (27) as well as proximity switch (28) can be surrounded by a one-piece elastomeric sealing cap (29) which is resistant to the media which occur and on which a multi-stage bush (30) can be formed for the purpose of sealing off the connecting cable and preventing the proximity switch from rotating. <IMAGE>
