PURPOSE:To prevent the accumulation of ink mist, recording paper powder, etc. on the surface of an ink jet head and to make a device small as a whole, by providing a suction port sucking suspended matters such as the ink mist and paper powder so as to be parallel to the scanning direction of the ink jet head. CONSTITUTION:By the rotating or sliding motion of recording paper 5 carried out between a platen 4 and paper presser rollers 6, the paper powder of a part of the fiber of the recording paper 5 and a surface treatment of the recording paper 5 is generated and suspended thereabouts. An ink discharged from an ink nozzle of an ink jet head 1 partly turns to mist due to splash phenomenon when applied to the surface of the recording paper 5; thus, the ink mist is also suspended. Before accumulating on the surface of the ink jet head 1, these suspended matters are sucked from a suction port 7 together with air due to the actuation of a fan or an air pump. Therefore, the surface of the ink jet head 1 can be almost free of dirt; this enables a long-time recording. |
