Using a device for the tension-resistant capping of cables, especially coaxial cables or optical-fibre cables, having subregions which can shrink and consist of plastic whose shape can be restored by heat, and having a tension eye, it is intended to create a solution which is simple in terms of assembly, is cost-effective in production and is equally suitable for connecting cables to a tension element of a tension eye such that the required forces can be absorbed. This is achieved in that subregions of the cap inner surface which rests on the cable sheath (2) have a shape which increases the contact between the cap (3) and the cable sheath (2). <IMAGE>
