In a combination of audio devices for a motor vehicle, consisting of a car radio with programme muting circuit and traffic programme identification, a high-quality signal source, particularly a CD player, and a high-quality AF amplifier which is optionally supplied via a switch-over device with the AF signals to be amplified, the switch-over device is arranged in the high-quality signal source. It is controlled by a threshold switch which monitors the level of the AF output of the car radio connected to the switch-over device and only allows the AF signal of the high-quality signal source to be switched through to the AF amplifier when it does not detect any signal coming from the AF output of the car radio and exceeding a predetermined noise threshold.
