PURPOSE:To alleviate the induction current and thus enhance the cooling efficiency by a method wherein a heat transmitting medium of a low specific dielectric constant and a high thermal conductivity is put between a discharge tube and the first outer cylinder, and a cooling medium is let flow between the first and second outer cylinders, thus cooling the discharge tube via heat transmitting medium. CONSTITUTION:The discharge part of the discharge tube 1 is formed in a three tube structure. As the heat transmitting medium 19, the clearance between the discharge tube and the first outer cylinder 15 is filled with alumina, etc. of a small grain diameter, and cooling water 4 is let flow between the first outer cylinder 15 and the second one 20 as the cooling medium; thereby cooling the mixed gas in the discharge tube 1 via said medium 19. This manner enables the induction current to be largely alleviated, since the specific dielectric constant of the alumina as said medium 19 is less than about ten. It is not necessary that the cooling water 4 as the cooling medium has a particularly low specific dielectric constant, but general tap water and industrial water are sufficient. |
