PURPOSE:To enable sort marks to be printed on both sides of a recording medium at the same position on the same side, by operating a printing-controlling means so that predetermined patterns for identifying the recording medium to be mounted are printed at a certain position on the face side of the medium and at a corresponding position on the back side symmetrical with the certain position with respect to an axis of reversion of the face side, at the time of perfect printing. CONSTITUTION:It is judged whether a sort mark is to be printed on a page according to initial settings or the like prior to printing, and then a position specified by a control instruction or initial setting values or the like is set into a face page sort mark position register 8 by a CPU 1. A position symmetrical with the specified sort mark position with respect to an axis of reversion for a recording medium is set into a back page sort mark position register 9. The CPU 1 then checks a face/back page register 7 to judge whether the current page is a face page, and develops the sort marks (patterns) into images at the respective positions indicated by the face and back page sort mark position registers 8, 9. Then, a dot image in an image buffer 5 is printed through a printer I/F circuit 6. |
