To record the absorption of nutrients in humans, animals or plants, an extraneous tracer (I) is added to the nutrients or feed, and accumulation of (I) is analysed in samples of e.g. hair, scales, skin fragments, fins and hooves. The amt. of nutrients absorbed is then determined based on this analysis. (I) is pref. a lanthanide. |
