PURPOSE:To promote the mixing of fuel with air and improve the combustion efficiency by forming at least a predetermined height from the opening surface on the side of a cylinder liner of the combustion chamber into a polygonal form distorted around the core line of the cylinder. CONSTITUTION:The combustion chamber 8 constructed within a cylinder cover 41 is made into a form in which respective summits are not coincident in the upper polygonal form of a polygonal column and a projection from the upper part of the lower polygonal surface. The wall surface assumes a form 41a produced when distorting a polygonal column at an angle alpha. The upper part of the form 41a is made into a polygonal conical base form 41b. At the last stage of the compression stroke the air stream is generated in the up and down direction or the central direction of the cylinder 3, and the formation of a gaseous mixture is promoted. In this manner, the combustion efficiency is impoved and the increase of the output becomes possible. |
