PURPOSE:To enhance rigidity and prevent vibration by attaching a plate crosswise at right angles at an upper end part of a column jacket and forming a shift lever attachment part in a gap formed by interposing a spacer between a fixing yoke and the plate. CONSTITUTION:A column jacket 20 constituted with a larger diameter tube 21 and a smaller diameter tube 22 holds freely rotatably a shift tube 27 coaxially with a steering shaft 34. Fixing a plate 23 crosswise at right angles at an outer circumference of an upper end of the large diameter tube 21, a fixing yoke 41 is connected via spacers 40 by means of bolts 42 and nuts 42a. Arranging an outwardly projecting shift arm 30 between a gap formed by the yoke 41 and the plate 23, a shift lever 43 is rotatably axis-supported by a pin 43b on the shift arm 30 with the shift lever 43 being forced to swing by means of a plate spring 43a. With this constitution, a cut part becomes unnecessary on the column jacket. As a result, rigidity is enhanced and vibration is reduced. |
