PURPOSE:To allow a flow of fluid to be streamlined in a shock absorber and both obtain its stable damping characteristic and remove its swish sound, by providing flow control means such that hydraulic operating fluid flows along the inner wall of a piston or cylinder after it passes flowing in an orifice or damping valve. CONSTITUTION:Such flow control means as shown by an orifice passage 20 and the like are provided to allow hydraulic operating fluid to flow along the inner wall in a piston 3 or cylinder 2 after a passing of its flow through an orifice, not shown in the drawing, or a damping valve 8. In an operational region at the side of an extension stroke where the piston 3 moves at speed not so fast, axially jetted fluid passing through the orifice passage 20 flows out in a state of streamline flow along the inner walls of the piston 3 and concentrically stepped hole 11. Accordingly, the flow of hydraulic operating fluid from the orifice passage 20, if streamlined in such a manner as described, makes an action of aeration with separated air foams not susceptible of being generated, capable of both surely suppressing a turbulence of damping waveform and reducing a level of swish sound. |
