PURPOSE:To obtain a running property more suitable depending on the request of a driver, by converting not only the control range of the engine revolutions but also the variable range of the gear change ratio. CONSTITUTION:To a control unit 10 are input the output signals a-d from sensors 6-9 including an engine revolution sensor 6 and a clutch output revolution sensor 7. Moreover, output signals e-h from an accelerator opening sensor 12, a brake sensor 14, a range position sensor 16, and a hold switch 17 are also input respectively. The hold switch 17 fixes the speed change ratio of a continuously variable transmission 5 to a specific speed change ratio preset responding to the range position of a shift lever. From the control unit 10, control signals i, j and k, are output to control valves 18-20 respectively, which are provided at a clutch 3, a forward/backward converting device 4, and the continuously variable transmission 5 respectively, depending on the signals a-h.
