The method consists in reducing to the absolute minimum the signal processing operations in the picture-taking device so as to reduce weight and volume. For this purpose the signals for line and frame reading of the points of the lines of a solid-state sensor (13) are transmitted virtually unmodified. To these reading signals are added line and frame synchronising signals (Sy) and, for each line read, one burst signal (Ss) at a frequency much higher than the frequency of the line synchronising signals. The pseudo television signal (Sp) thus created can be processed subsequently, to give a video signal with the desired standard, with the aid of a very precise time base obtained by phase comparison with the line synchronising pulses on the one hand and with the burst on the other.
