PURPOSE:To make a patch process unnecessary, and to realize an improvement of appearance and a cost reduction, by vacuum-forming a mat material expanding the position near the slit into a chevron form, and cutting off the excessive part of the slit to arrange the over-lapping space. CONSTITUTION:In a mat layering on the floor of an automobile or the like, a slit is formed, and the both ends of the silt are overlapped each other to open or close the mat. In order to produce a mat with such a slit, a part of the mat is formed expanding in a chevron form when the mat material is vacuum-formed. After such a formation, the slit 3 is made while the excessive portion S is cut off along the cut line C. To the mat material 1, a rear liner material is formed and processed if necessary. By securing an overlapping space beforehand when the mat material is formed in such a way, a conventional patch work is not necessary, and, the appearance quality is improved and a cost reduction is realized. |
