PURPOSE:To improve the amount and yield of a formed alcohol, by adding a specific amino acid to a normally used culture medium composition in cultivating and producing the alcohol by a bacterium of the genus Zymomonas. CONSTITUTION:A bacterium of the genus Zymomonas, particularly Zymomonas mobilis having the ability of alcoholic fermentation is cultivated to produce an alcohol. In the process, preferably glutamic acid, serine or aspartic acid in an amount of 0.1-0.5wt/vol% based on the culture medium is added to the normally used culture medium composition and cultivated to produce the aimed alcohol. |
