PURPOSE:To keep a thermal transfer ribbon which hits the printing side of a single character pattern at a uniform temperature so that a complete erasure may be achieved by subdividing s single character in a head moving direction and reducing the energization time of a thermal head to be applied to each subdivided part, stepwise in a moving direction when already printed characters are erased. CONSTITUTION:If the X direction of composed characters is assumed as 15 dots, these 15 dots are sequentially subdivided into regions a-c, each being composed on three dots and a region d of six dots, totaling four regions, along an X direction. then the width of a strobe signal transmitted to each region by CPU is changed to control and output energy generated by a thermal head. That is, the energization time of the thermal head is set longest in the region (a) and sequentially shorter in the regions b c d in that order. Thus a thermal transfer ribbon 1 is to be set to a constant temperature which is adequate for absorbing the ink of a printed character pattern all in the regions a, b, c and d. |
