The process is for the surveillance of a rail borne vehicle performance, whereby the vehicle adjusts its speed dependent upon data provided from fixed signalling points along its track. At each signalling point, the vehicle receives information concerning top speed, distances to two signalling points ahead along the track, and intended speeds at those points. In this way, two braking distances and two signalling distances are monitored, permitting a more anticipatory adjustment of speed. The intended speed at the second of the two signalling points ahead can be the true speed or a predetermined value, for example 0, which can be the case when the second distance ahead is longer than the braking distance. This can also apply where a new value for the intended speed is transmitted to the vehicle when it moves into the second distance ahead. (Provisional Basic advised week 83/36) |
