PURPOSE:To prevent a focus from being misdetected owing to the presence of long- and short-distance objects by selecting manually either of the long- and short-distance subjects which are detected in plural focus detection zones and can be focused, and detecting the focusing state of a photographic lens. CONSTITUTION:Object light passed through the photographic lens is photodetected by a CCD 13 and plural focus detection zones corresponding to plural focus detection areas which are at different positions are set on the CCD 13. A microprocessor 23 controls focus detection and when objects which can be focused are detected in plural focus detection zones, which of the long- and short-distance object is focused is selected according to the manual setting of a long/short-distance selection switch SW 1. Thus, the misdetection of the focus due to the presence of the long- and short-distance objects is precluded. |
