PURPOSE:To smoothly transfer electrolyte between an electrolyte reserver and electrolyte matrix by arranging an elastic member and electrolyte holding porous member in the groove formed on a gas separating plate. CONSTITUTION:In the groove formed on a gas separation plate 1, an elastic member 6 and an electrolyte holding porous member 5 which is brought in press-contact with an electrode by the elastic member are provided. A carbonic felt, carbonic paper or the like is used as the electrolyte holding porous member 5. Fluororubber, fluororesin or the like is used, in the case of a phosphoric acid type or alkaline fuel cell, as the elastic member 6. The fluororesin exhibits hardly elasticity at the room temperature but exhibits the elasticity at the operating temperature (about 100 to 200 deg.C) in the phoshoric acid type or alkaline fuel cell. The fluororesin exhibits the superior corrosion resistance to the electrolyte. Therefore, the transfer of the electrolyte between the electrolyte holding porous member 5 and the electrolyte matrix 8 is smoothly performed through a wet seal portion 7. |
