PURPOSE:To enhance the reliability of a piezoelectric element by coating the end of an electrode conductor layer exposed on the side of a sintered material with a glass film to effectively prevent a silver-palladium electrode conductor layer from being migrated due to a silver material. CONSTITUTION:An electrostrictive effect element 100 has two thick rectangular piezoelectric ceramic members A1, A2 disposed at the upper and lower parts, a laminated sintered material provided between the members A1 and A2 and alternately laminated with thin piezoelectric ceramic members a1-an and silver- palladium electrode conductor layers b1-bn+1, and external conductor layers l, 2 made of two pectinated electrodes commonly connected with odd and even number-th layers b1-bn+1 on the sides of the sintered material with insulating layers I1-In+1 as bases. The ends of a pair of external electrode conductor layers 1, 2 and the layers b1-bn+1 exposed on the whole two opposed surfaces except the two surfaces formed with the layers 1, 2 on the whole sides of the sintered material are covered with glass films 3. |
