The invention relates to a device intended for the surface treatment of the walls of hollow plastic articles of any shape, using the corona effect. The device is characterised in that the electrode or earth counter-electrode consists of a hollow conduit 1 closed at one of its ends and provided laterally with multiple perforations 2, which conduit is sleeved with an envelope 3 made of extensible and impervious material which may or may not be conducting, this envelope being fixed at each of its ends against the conduit 1 which is subjected internally to a partial vacuum for the engagement and then to a fluid pressure in order to expand the envelope 3 against the wall of the container 13 and in that the other electrode 10 consists principally of an annular conduit, the inner wall of which is provided with multiple perforations 11 emerging at the rear of an expandable and impervious envelope 12 which is fixed by its ends against the inner wall of the annular electrode 10 subjected internally to a fluid pressure expanding the envelope 12 against the outer wall of the container 13. Applications: surface treatment making it easier to mark or decorate and to coat with barrier materials the interior of wine containers, petrol tanks, etc. <IMAGE>
