PURPOSE:To enable detection of a sudden increase in CO during abnormal decrease in a combustion quantity, by a method wherein, in a burner, a porous member, having the equal area to that of a part of a burner hole part, is adhered to a part of the burner port part, and a flame detecting element is positioned facing the porous member. CONSTITUTION:A thermocouple 1 serving as a flame detecting element is positioned facing a position where a wire gauze 4 serving as a porous member and having the same area of a part of a burner port part 3 of a burner 2 is attached in a manner to be adhered to a part of the burner port. With the wire gauze 4 situated to the burner port part 3, quenching is forced to occur only to the wire gauze 4 in a combustion amount higher than that in which quenching caused when there is no wire gauze 4 occurs. Besides, since a CO amount in exhaust gas produced due to quenching of flame on the wire gauze 4 is diluted by other exhaust gas which is normally burnt, an increase in CO is almost prevented from occurring on the whole of exhaust gas. This constitution enables the thermocouple 1 to detect an abnormal reduction in a combustion amount before a combustion amount is suddenly decreased and CO is suddenly produced. |
