PURPOSE:To enable tab positions to be set by a serial printer alone, by providing the serial printer with a specified function. CONSTITUTION:When a switch 1 or 2 is depressed once while a printer is in a stand-by condition, a controlling part 3 rotates a spacing motor 4 in a forward or reverse direction by a minute angle. In this case, carrier position data 5 is also increased or decreased according to the displacement of a carrier. After a printing paper is set on a printer and the carrier is moved to a printing position by depressing the switch 1 or 2, a tab data setting switch 6 is depressed, upon which the controlling part sets the current carrier position data 5 into a tab position register 7. By this, tab positions can be set with a format of the printing paper as a reference by the printer alone. |
