In order to plug the end of a tube 10, a removable device 12 consisting of a screw 14, of a nut 16, and of a stack 18 placed between the head 14a of the screw and the nut is placed inside the said tube. This stack comprises a stuffing box 22 surrounded by a sleeve 26 which can be deformed elastically in a radial direction, and two stuffing boxes 20, 24 located on either side of the stuffing box 22. The device 12 is fastened in the tube by the stuffing box 22 combined with the sleeve 26, whilst the plugging is sealed by the stuffing boxes 20, 24. <IMAGE>
