PURPOSE:To obtain the title coke which can give an isotropic carbonaceous material by a forming method that does not need an isotropic pressure, by the heat treatment of a coal tar pitch and/or petroleum pitch, and an aromatic carboxylic anhydride in an inert atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A coal tar pitch and/or a petroleum pitch (A), and 10-30wt%, based on component A, aromatic polycarboxylic anhydride (B), such as pyromellitic anhydride, trimellitic anhydride, or phthalic anhydride, are heat- treated at 250-450 deg.C for 2-10hr in an inert atmosphere (e.g., an N2 atmosphere), if necessary, under pressure. |
