PURPOSE:To exactly prevent an image carrying body from being damaged at the time of the mounting operation of a process unit, by providing a protective member consisting of a sheet-shaped light shielding material for covering the outside periphery, on a drum-shaped carrying body, mounting the process unit to an image forming device body, and thereafter, separating and collecting this protective member. CONSTITUTION:An image carrying body 1 in a process unit 8 is formed by a constitution in which the whole periphery of the image carrying body 1 is covered with a protective member 11 consisting of one sheet of sheet-shaped material. One end of the protective member 11 is fixed to a collecting roller 12, and when a handle 13 is rotated in the direction an indicated with an arrow E, the protective member 11 is separated from the image carrying body 1, wound to the collecting roller 12 and recovered. In such a way, even after the process unit 8 is mounted to the image forming device body, the separating and collecting operations of the protective member 11 can be executed. In this regard, as for the material of the protective member 11, a material being opaque against a wavelength area for generating an optical fatigue in the image carrying body 1 is used, from the viewpoint of protecting the image carrying body 1 from an external light. |
